From the archive.

A 2009 Chrysochou Bay record describes a dead pup. A 2016 Cape Plakoti field account describes an adult female.

A 23 January 2018 Paphos report describes a harbour sighting. A 2 February report says a young pup was later seen swimming with its mother. North-coast study records describe monitored encounters with exact sites withheld.

How to read the records.

Map markers are broad area references, never positions of seals. Records labelled “Cyprus” have no single map point when a source gives only an island-wide area or a site is withheld. They remain available through the archive filters.

A record’s date may be an encounter, report or carcass discovery date. Its label and notes explain what the source supports. Reports do not measure the number of different seals or a population trend.

Visitor submissions are reviewed privately. Publication is a separate editorial step.
